Cape Town – South Africa 2021
MSG will offer you the chance to visit the legislative capital, colloquially known as the “Mother City” Cape Town for the South Africa 2021 Tour. It was named as Africa’s leading festival and event destination for 2019 at the World Travel Awards and will host the tour opener ( vs Stormers) and the decisive second Test match against the Springboks.
The City Bowl, a natural amphitheatre-shaped area, nestles between South Africa’s stunning southwest coast and the imposing Table Mountain. The peak boasts magnificent sweeping views of the peninsula and is accessed via slowly rotating cable cars. If you like your vistas and bragging rights hard-earned then hike one of the many trails to conquer one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.
Food is in abundance in Cape Town and the offerings are as diverse as the people that make up this marvellous metropolis. The wonderful year-round climate and handy hop-on-and-off City Sightseeing buses, make exploring the sites a dream. Blue flag beaches, picturesque vineyards and cultural heritage sites can all be found here.
Our MSG Base Camp for the second Test is one of our two Cape Town hotels – The President Hotel.

Be sure to tick these boxes on your stay in The Mother City
The Cape Peninsula is a 52km long stretch that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean from Mouille Point in the north, to Cape Point in the South. Drink in the resplendent views from Table Mountain, of the lush Kirstenbosch Gardens and of the many beautiful beaches en route to meeting the penguins at Boulders Beach.
The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, boasting 450 retail outlets, is South Africa’s most-visited destination and houses various heritage sites, historic landmarks and other attractions. Alfred, Queen Victoria’s second son, inaugurated and officially opened the site that now boasts over 450 retail outlets as well as continuing to be a working fishing harbour and market.
Just shy of 7km from the Cape Town coast lies a museum that is a site of major historical importance. Nelson Mandela served most of his 27-year sentence in the prison here and former inmates provide part of the tours, offering direct insight into what it was really like during the struggle against apartheid.
The former township is the oldest surviving residential neighbourhood in Cape Town and is situated on the slopes of Signal Hill. A historical centre of Cape Malay culture, it is famous for its cobbled stone streets and fabulous, brightly coloured homes. Meander through the food and craft markets on the way to the oldest established mosque and the cultural museum.
The Constantia Valley is an abundant array of vineyards, stately homes, hills and forests. Situated 30 minutes from Cape Town and in the shadow of the mountain that shares the same name, the valley houses amazing wine farms, restaurants and million-dollar views ideal for both short or long stays.
