Testing newly-developed language skills on the continent is an exciting way of putting theory into practice, as demonstrated by Lawrence Sheriff School who travel to Germany in November with MSG Tours on their annual Modern Foreign Languages trip.

The intoxicating views of The Rhine Valley and its towns’ fairy-tale scenery, castles and unique landmarks – combined with a city-break experience in Cologne – offer students a remarkable insight into German culture. Spread over 5 days, the group will explore iconic towns such as Koblenz, Boppard and Bonn and visit Marksburg Castle, Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and Koln Dom Cathedral.

What better way to absorb Cologne’s sights than by river cruise? Further visits to Christmas markets, Phantasialand and Michael Schumacher’s Karting Center on the outskirts of the city lay in wait with, of course, the obligatory visit to the city’s Chocolate Museum.

“I am excited to be able to offer our students the opportunity to experience Germany at such a magical time of year. The selection of places to visit in Cologne and the surrounding area is extensive and there is a good mix of educational visits and leisure activities,” commented trip leader and teacher of French & German, Stephanie Standing.
