Sports Tour Overview

August 2017 saw our friends in Canada visiting our shores for a post-season tour. Niagara Wasps RFC ended their successful league campaign with a three-match whistle-stop tour of the UK and Ireland.

Their first few nights were based in London where they spent the days sightseeing the tourist spots such as the London Eye, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace. They were then lucky enough to do a guided tour of Twickenham Stadium as part of their rugby experience.

They participated in a friendly match in London against Old Reigatian before jetting off to their next destination of Cardiff, but not without a quick pit stop in the rugby town of Bath for lunch and exploration.

Their arrival in Wales saw a friendly match against Croesyceiliog RFC, who later returned the favour on their 2018 tour to Canada. The tourists experienced a tour of the Principality stadium, as well as the Big Pit National Coal Museum before heading off to Dublin via the Holyhead to Dublin ferry crossing.

Some free time in Dublin meant the Wasps had the opportunity to relax and enjoy the capital’s surroundings. They spent the morning exploring the Guinness Storehouse before travelling to Belfast to watch the Women’s Rugby World Cup Final. A truly incredible experience for all involved, before heading back home.
