Neath Port Talbot College’s Public Services Tour to Canada

Public Services students from Neath Port Talbot College embarked on an immersive educational tour across Canada, exploring the country’s approach to public service while experiencing some of its most iconic cities. The journey began in Montreal, where students took part in a guided walking tour and visited McGill University, gaining insight into Canadian higher education and the city’s rich history. The group also had the opportunity to visit a local military regiment and take part in a volunteering afternoon, providing valuable first-hand exposure to community service and the role of the armed forces. Alongside these experiences, time was spent exploring the culture and atmosphere of Montreal. Travelling onward through Parc Omega, the tour continued to Ottawa where students explored Canada’s legal system, visited Rideau Hall and met members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, gaining a deeper understanding of how national public services operate . The final part of the tour took the group to Toronto and the iconic Niagara Falls, where students continued their public service learning through visits to emergency services and key institutions while also enjoying cultural highlights such as the Hockey Hall of Fame and the CN Tower. Combining education, cultural exploration and unforgettable sights, the tour delivered a truly enriching international learning experience.
