Test Tickets – South Africa, 2021
Can we get Test tickets with our MSG travel packages? Due to licensing regulations, MSG Tours Ltd will not be able to include them in our 2021 packages. Instead, YOU do the tickets and we’ll create the experience.
Don’t be alarmed, though as the stats are in your favour.
In January 2020, we took the decision to exit commercial arrangements with the British & Irish Lions on becoming an appointed Official Sub Agent (OSA). Despite very positive early talks, it became clear that MSG – as an OSA – wouldn’t be able to deliver the unique tours, experiences and razor sharp customer service that our fantastic and loyal client base have has come to expect
Becoming ‘Official’ would allow us to include test tickets, but at a significant cost to you without the flexibility to put MSG’s own stamp on it (packages would likely increase by circa 35-40% from our average package prices, based on analysis of official packages for the 2017 Lions tour to New Zealand versus non-ticket inclusive tours). The OSA deal came with a limited travel inventory, restrictions on customising tours and an inability to deliver a Lions tour to South Africa the MSG way. Most importantly, this would also restrict our strategic goals in #DeliveringTheUnexpected for our clients and raising ONE MILLION RAND for South African charities.
Getting test tickets
Over 210,000 tickets are available for the three-Test series, of which a limited number per game are provided on official tours from appointed UK agencies. That leaves circa 180,000 seats on public sale in the autumn to a traditionally low-demand African economy that may struggle to raise the expected costs for each Test ticket. With the ballots launched this summer for UK fans, and tickets going on public sale in South Africa in late 2020, we are left in no doubt that every one of our fans will be watching the finest rugby – at the most economical price.
Anyone that has been on an MSG tour will understand that travel experience enhancement, with a first-class service, is at our very core. Three intense inspection visits to South Africa in 2019/2020 (the latter of which included five members of our events team) were structured to unearth the finest accommodations, activities and experiences that suit OUR audience. Our findings and partnerships make this, on paper, our most inventive and enriching tour to date. Bar none.
Following the Lions is as much about the midweek geographical meandering as it is the weekend fixtures: a wholesome experience ranging from two weeks upwards. The end result with MSG? A trip that will heighten your senses, led by incredible Tour Managers at the most affordable price.
