MSG Tours can proudly announce an exciting partnership with Neil Boobyer and Rhondda Schools Rugby. Our new relationship sees us co-ordinate the team’s rugby tour and collaborate with Neil for the Lions tour in 2021.
Visiting our European base next weekend, the Rhondda schoolboys will be staying a short stroll from the beach in Biarritz. 33 boys will do battle with some tough French opposition against Avirion Bayonnais on the Friday and St Vincent de Tyrosse on the Saturday
Working as an ambassador for MSG, former Wales international, Neil will be bringing over 80 people with him to South Africa.
Rhondda Schools’ Tour
The Rhondda Schools U15’s team will be visiting an area that lives and breathes rugby – the Basque country. They can share their passion for the oval ball with fellow enthusiasts from Bayonne and Biarritz while also trying their hand at the Basque sport of Pelota.
It won’t all be play as the Rhondda Schoolboys can relax and watch a Top 14 rugby match, too. Pau welcome Clermont Auvergne to the Pyrenees mountains and they will get to experience the unique atmosphere at this match.
Not only will they get the opportunity to do spend time on French soil, Rhondda Schools will venture across the border to experience the Spanish side of the Basque in beautiful San Sebastian.
Former Welsh international centre, Neil Boobyer, has been coaching Rhondda Schools for the best part of 15 years and is looking forward to taking his team to the South of France.
Neil said: “It’s fantastic for the boys from 6 different schools in Rhondda to come together to play rugby. Some of these boys have never been abroad before so what an opportunity for them to experience the Basque country. We’ve been touring for five or six years and these boys go on to be friends for life. We’re looking forward to getting out there to test ourselves against French Rugby teams. Can’t wait for the trip!
The Lions 2021
Over 80 people will be following Neil with MSG Tours to the Rainbow Nation for the highly anticipated Lions tour next year. Having toured South Africa as a coach with Rhondda Schools, it will be Neil’s first time on a Lions tour as a supporter.
Neil said: “I’ve never been on a Lions Tour before so I’m really, really excited. To be an ambassador for MSG is fantastic for myself. Hopefully, we’ll get about 80 – 100 people coming with me. I’ve been over twice before with the Rhondda boys; it’s a fantastic country and now I’m just looking forward to the experience of a Lions trip”
Utilising the partnership and his status in Welsh rugby, Neil will act as an ambassador for MSG Tours bringing his large group to South Africa with us.
Alongside his coaching of the Rhondda schoolboys, Neil runs a successful events company with a strong rugby following. Previous NBRS Events have included guests such as Shane Williams and the famous ‘Pontypool Front Row.’ There is an afternoon with a certain Kevin Keegan planned, too.
