MSG Tours have expanded into South Wales and have opened their third office – introducing Team MSG Wales.
The start of 2020 saw the new office open on Tredomen Business Park in Ystrad Mynach where we have now been operating for the past month. Due to recent success and to deal with the growing customer demand coming from South Wales, it made perfect sense to open our third office here.
Team MSG Wales will work alongside our HQ in Derby and our European base in Biarritz to help us continue to deliver the unexpected. Opening office number three in Ystrad Mynach puts us in the ideal location to access some of our most loyal customers in Wales.
Meet Team MSG Wales
Joining the experienced Laura in South Wales are Jay and Matt, with Huw working behind the scenes, too.
Having toured with us on the Lions tour to New Zealand in 2017, Laura moved up to Derby to work on the Operations side of things. But, a home girl at heart, she longed for the Welsh Valleys where she returned to work from home. Due to our growth, she now runs the newly opened Wales Office.
Jay is a local lad who lives and breathes sport and travel. His expertise comes in Sport Marketing and PR having studied at Leeds University. On a Saturday, you’ll usually see Jay kitted out in the black and red of his beloved Nelson RFC.
A familiar face to some of our tourists in Japan 2019; Matt knows exactly what it’s like to be a supporter on one of our trips. Having previously worked for the Ospreys, we tapped into his skills while he toured with us at the Rugby World Cup. Now, he’s a fully fledged member of the MSG team in Wales.
Working outside of the office in Wales is Huw. An important part of the team; Huw is passionate about touring and the benefits it brings to local clubs and amateur sport. He liaises with football, rugby and cricket clubs across Wales to provide them with the unforgettable experiences they seek on their tour.
An interesting fact about Team MSG Wales is that they can all speak Welsh! Laura, Jay and Huw are all fluent in Cymraeg having attended Welsh schools while Matt can speak a little bit of the language having studied at A-Level. Maybe Matt can pick up more Welsh working with his new team.
Expanding to Wales
Our expansion into the Welsh supporters, clubs and schools’ market meant it was only logical to create a third base in an area which is important to our company. Not only from a business sense, but on a personal level, too.
MSG have returned to our natural roots with several of our staff hailing from Wales – including our Managing Director, Mark Gardner.
A large portion of our Loyal Lions, Follow the Herd and Supporters Club groups are also based in Wales so there was even more reason to ‘come home’ to South Wales.
After successful tours to New Zealand with the British & Irish Lions as well as the Rugby World Cup in Japan, we’re hoping to make our next tours even bigger and better. With that, we needed a bigger and better team, too.
Mark Gardner, Managing Director said: “MSG’s first ever clients hail from the Welsh Valleys and thus it’s fitting to open our latest office in close proximity to our loyal rugby supporters.
Cutting the ribbon on the Tredomen office was a proud moment for the directors, giving us the chance to recruit from a rich talent pool of well-travelled staff with matching values.”
