For those organising their team’s next football tour, take a look at Montenegro. Montenegro is not your average football tour destination, but can offer a high standard of football to touring teams and gives visitors a great cultural experience between matches.
Montenegro is widely recognised as the Pearl of the Mediterranean; located south of the Adriatic, you will be forgiven for not knowing an awful lot about the fascinating country of Montenegro. Nestled between Croatia, Bosnia and Macedonia, this sporting hot bed offers a very appealing range of tours for many sports, in particular football. The beach resort of Budva also makes for a great place to stay. Offering access to a variety of hotels depending on the reason for your visit, it is also located just 30 minutes from Tivat Airport, 30 minutes from Kotor and 1 hour away from Montenegro’s capital city of Podgorica. Easy travel via regional fight links, quick transfers and a wealth of places to stay makes Montenegro the perfect location for your next football tour.
Where to stay in Montenegro?
Located just a five minute walk from the beach, this hotel offers a variety of comfortable rooms and apartments for football groups. A firm favourite among football touring groups who are keeping to a careful budget, Grey College will be calling this their home on their upcoming football tour to Montenegro.
What to do in Montenegro?
There is plenty to do between match days to make your football team’s trip to Montenegro truly memorable.
- Day trips to Kotor: Located just 30 minutes north of Budva, Kotor is a charming town and is where you’ll spot cruise ships that often dock here for the day.
- Kotor Castle
- Day trips to Podgorica, The Capital of Montenegro
- Walks through Budva’s old town
- Budva Aquapark
When to visit?
Whilst most football fixtures and training facilities are available all year round, for the best weather we would recommend visiting between April and September, making Montenegro the perfect location for your end of season football tour.
“After my recent inspection trip to Montenegro, I was particularly impressed with the standard of hotels along with fantastic sporting facilities, ideal for your next football tour. The Hotel Garni MB is also a great choice for those wanting to be close to the beach but not too far from a town. A day trip to the medieval old town of Kotor is a must in between football fixtures as the scenery is outstanding.”
